The Owls are looking for another successful season.

The Windsor baseball team has a winning tradition. Despite a tough 0-3 start, the Owls expect the winning ways to continue.

Coach Jeff Young said, “I think we will be very competitive this season. We have a lot of seniors coming back this year that were starters, including: Jacob Davis, Tommy Detmer, Kael Ward and Tucker Kube. What this season is really going to depend on is how the juniors come out and replace the seniors that graduated from the year before. If they progress like we think they can, I think we will be pretty decent and hard to beat.”

The Owls began the season 0-3 at the Troy tournament. However, this is a tournament that includes several of the top teams in the state of Missouri. For example, Rockwood Summit has five Division I signees. The Owls schedule this tournament to help them prepare for conference and district play.

Sophomore Connor Hartmann said, “Playing the tough competition we do at the Troy Tournament should prepare us down the road. I think it will help us out a lot mentally, not just physically because baseball is such a mental sport.

With nine returning seniors, the Owls do not lack experience.

Senior Jason Linn said, “We are down a few key players from last year, but that just means our senior group has to step up and show some leadership on the diamond and I believe we can do that. If we all play together, it’s going to be a fun last year with the boys.”

Another senior expects the Owls to be successful this season.

Senior Tommy Detmer said, “This season we are expecting to have some people fill some big time roles we lost this year.  If everyone steps up and does their job this season, I think we could potentially do some damage on the field.”
