On Saturday, September 30, Windsor High School will be having their annual homecoming dance. The theme this year is Jurassic Park, and it will be DINOmite!

Windsor High School decided to try something new this year in relation to Homecoming 2017. Instead of receiving nominations for the homecoming court by fellow students, teachers were the ones that nominated students this year. This process brought out a lot of different responses, but in the end, the Windsor High School’s homecoming court has been chosen.

The court consists of freshmen Avery Funston and Tyler Ballew, sophomores Emma Pouvaranukoah and Adam Marler, and juniors Keri Voegtle and Josh Krupp. The senior court is Brogan Eyre and Harrison Stoudt, Makayla Holt and Trent Deevers, Liska Hromnak and Connor Portlock, and Shelby Morgan and Tyler Lingle.

Eyre said, “I feel like this group in particular wouldn’t have been chosen if it were up to students because teachers have a different eye for things. I think the teachers picked role models, rather than a popularity contest.”

Some of the students selected were not expecting the results.

Deevers said, “ I was extremely surprised to be nominated. I don’t view myself as well known or popular.”

With the new process, the nominees are ready to share the experience together.

Hromnak said, “I am super excited. I think it’s a really good opportunity and will be a lot of fun. The group of people I was nominated with are all awesome people, and I’m excited to have this experience with them.”

All of the students that were selected are known to be very high character students. However, not all of them are used to being in the spotlight.

Eyre said, “I felt flattered to find out I was nominated by teachers because they see you as a role model and a good student. I was nervous because I’ve never been in front of the whole student body in this way, but overall I’m excited.”

Stoudt says, “I was honored from having it come from the teachers and staff but I’m nervous more than anything because I’ve never been in this kind of crowd.”
