Last Friday night was frigid outside, but that didn’t keep fans from witnessing something that has not happened in over a decade.

The Windsor boys basketball team beat Festus 66-54 on Friday night–the first win over the Tigers in nearly 12 years.

The Owls beat Festus 73-67 on February 3, 2006. Interestingly, the Owls were coached by Wayne Montgomery and the starting point guard for that team was teacher Jeff Stoffey.

“I was surprised that it has been that long. I always enjoyed our games with Festus and teams such as DeSoto. Those rivalry games are what makes those Friday night games so much fun,” Stoffey said. “I think Coach Dutton has the team going in the right direction and those rivalries will really heat up over the next few years.”

The 2018 Owls followed up the Festus victory with a huge 69-53 win over Affton. Windsor is 7-8 on the season.

Against Festus, junior Connor Hartmann led the Owls with 16 points. Michael Schmidt, Evan Worley and Derek Williams each added 10 points for the Owls.

The Owls play at 7 pm tonight at DeSoto.
