Junior Grant Siegel is The Hoot Athlete of the Month for September. Siegel leads the soccer team with 24 total points and is second on the team with 9 goals. He has led the Owls to a record of 10-8-1.

Who do you credit your success to?

“I credit my success to my teammates because all of my goals and assists couldn’t have happened without them since as all my goals are assisted and they have to score my assist,” Siegel said.

What is your mind set before every game? Siegel said, “I just go out there and try to do what puts my team in the best position to win the game either by me scoring goals and me being a forward helps a lot. If I’m not scoring goals, hopefully I’m giving my teammates the best opportunity to score goals to put us in the lead and win a game.”

What is it like to have an athlete on your team such as Grant Siegel?

Head soccer coach Chris Krueger said, “Having Grant on the team is great.  He continues to ask questions to get better.  He is always in a good mood and loves to be at practice or games.  He’s a kid that just wants to play the game and win on top of it. However, he understands that at the end of the day we have to let the wins and losses go and focus on the chore of the next day.  A tremendous person, student, and athlete that I am lucky enough to have met.”
