Revenge is sweet.

Last season, the Windsor girls soccer team lost a heartbreaker 2-1 to Hillsboro in the district title game. Earlier this season, the Owls lost 1-0 to the Hawks.

However, the Owls’ fortunes changed on Wednesday night. The Owls beat the Hawks 1-0 to claim the Class 3 District 2 title.

“It feels amazing,” senior Keri Voegtle said. “They have always been our rival and every time we face them, it’s always a battle from start to finish.”

The district title is the third in the program’s history and the first since 2014.

With around 20 minutes left in the game, the Owls finally broke through after sophomore Symphony Schodroski made an excellent pass to Jordan Kolinski for the eventual game winning goal.

After a 6-0 loss to Perryville on April 25, the Owls were struggling with a 4-11 record. Since that wakeup call, the Owls have won seven of their past eight games. The Owls will play their sectional game on Tuesday, May 21. They will play the winner of tonight’s Central/North County game.

“I’m so proud of how our team has really come together and I couldn’t be happier,” Voegtle said.
