A Novel Idea

Librarian Rebecca Zwetow is starting a new book club.

A Novel Idea

Jaelyn Sutton, Staff Writer

A new book club has recently been introduced to Windsor High School. The Novel Idea Book Club is designed to connect parents with their students on a more sensible conception of life.

The hope is that “Parents will learn something about what high school life is like now instead of when they were in school,” founder Rebecca Zwetow said. “I feel like they are surprised about a lot of things, or don’t know how to talk about some things with their students. But if you’re discussing big teenage issues in a book that you’ve read, it’s more neutral.”

In total, the club will read four novels, and will meet just four times this school year.

Zwetow said, “We are going to meet once a quarter, and we are just going to sit and talk about the books we have read and what comes up in them.”

The first quarter book choice is called One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus. It’s an award-winning contemporary, young adult, mystery/suspense novel. It’s a Pretty Little Liars meets The Breakfast Club type of novel because everyone has something to hide, and the drama gets pretty intense.

The other three novel choices will be similar to this, so if this is your type of genre, this may be a good club for you. If you are interested in joining, please talk to your parents and have them email Rebecca Zwetow at [email protected]
