When school started last year during the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, Windsor had to put measures in place to keep people apart and to allow for social distancing. One of those measures put in place by the administration was the temporary suspension of Owl Time. Now that Windsor is back to normal, or at least as normal as it can be, Owl Time is back.

Interestingly, half of the school had never seen Owl Time.

To some of the students experiencing Owl Time for the first time, it can seem a bit chaotic at first glance. But the more  Windsor has Owl Time, the more the students fall into the rhythm of things. “Owl Time” is a hour long lunch in which students can also meet with certain clubs, visit teacher’s with office hours, complete homework in the library, play sports in the gym, go to the weight room or a variety of other activities at the school.

Sophomore Connor Knight said, “My thoughts were absolute chaos but interesting. Rather than just being chaos and being like ‘I can’t take it,’ it’s more like chaos but fun to watch.”

But in all the chaos, people found plenty of new things to do that they couldn’t do last year.

Sophomore Katie Haynes said, “I have more time to hang out with my friends and I can use the time hanging out in the library or doing whatever I want like getting help with my homework.”

The students are starting to find some normalcy with Owl Time.

Senior Elliot Witte said, “Yes, the first day was chaotic but now I’ve got it so I go eat lunch around the first half and then I go in and play basketball for the rest.”

One of the perks that come with Owl Time is that students can use it for whatever they want. So if students are behind on homework or just want to have a nice lunch with friends, they can do that without worrying about time.

Junior Spencer Lacefield said, “I’m taking the extra hour to get my  A-plus hours early, and then the extra hour is nice to catch up on work. I definitely used that my freshman year.”

It seems most people are happy to have Owl Time.

Lacefield said, “Oh yeah, 100 percent.”
