As freshmen, several of the senior volleyball players made it to state. The Owls finished fourth in the state that season. 

Fourth place won’t cut it this time. 

The Owls have started this season 8-0, including winning their own tournament. 

Overall, this year’s team is filled with several veteran standouts that led the Owls to a 27-4-3 record last fall. 

Senior Madison Williams said, “We have meshed really well together ever since we started up in the summer, and it just keeps getting better and better. As we continue to improve, we hope to continue this path to state.”

As long as the Owls stay healthy, they can beat just about anyone.

Coach Stephany Dueker-Richmond said, “Some goals are improving every game, get along, be a true team, and stay healthy.” 

With such a veteran team, the goals are a bit higher this season. 

Senior Lexi Menne, who is committed to playing at Lindenwood next fall,  said, “The expectation for this year is to go as far as possible and make history.” 

As a whole, the team hopes the camaraderie between the girls will push them over the top this season. 

Menne said, “Outside of volleyball, we always go out to eat. Us seniors hang out with each other a lot outside of school.”

The team enjoys spending time with each other. 

Madison Williams said, “Outside of volleyball, we usually will all go out to eat before games or after games and simply just chill.”

Even with high expectations, the team wants to stay loose, even at games. 

Menne said, “Before games, we always get warmed up by running and dancing around.”
