In a recent game against the Valley Park Hawks, Windsor senior Calli Robertson had a game to remember. She was close to making history.

Robertson finished with a career high 26 points, including a career high seven 3-pointers. The seven 3-pointers were the most by a Windsor player in nearly three decades. The record of 10 3-pointers was set in 1991 by Laura Merritt.

Robertson has been heating up over the past eight games. She has averaged nearly 14 points per contest over that span while averaging a solid 10.6 per game on the season. This has been due to her shooting from long range.  She has shot 33 percent from 3 point range over that span and has hit 10 in a span of two contests.

Earlier in the season, Robertson struggled from behind the arc. Now, Robertson can’t seem to miss.

Robertson said, “I’ve been trying to get myself involved a bit more and help the team with my shooting and bringing energy to the team.”

While the team has struggled at times, Robertson has been excelling.

Robertson said,  “I’ve just been trying to have fun because there’s no room for dwelling on anything negative, especially in my last year. I just try to have fun and make sure all my teammates have confidence.”

Robertson has taken on a leadership role as a senior this season.

Junior Bailey Wilson said, “Calli has a really positive effect on the rest of the players, and I think next season is definitely going to be tougher without her.”

It’s obvious that Robertson makes more than just herself better on the court, as her teammates seem to enjoy the time they spend playing with her.

Coach Kim Schmidt noted that Robertson has made huge strides this season.

“I think confidence has been her biggest thing. She’s always been capable of doing things but she’s been feeling a lot more confident in herself and that’s been evident in the things she’s been able to do both defensively and offensively.”

Recently, Festus and Brentwood played a box-and-one defense. The “one” is designed to stop a standout player. Robertson has certainly been a standout.

Schmidt said, “I think it really shows that people know what she’s capable of. I know a lot of people just think of her as a soccer player, but she’s a good athlete and she’s been able to put up some big numbers scoring wise and that’s a big compliment to her.”
