The boys basketball team finished with 10-16 record and recorded a district win this season. The boys season came to an end on February 28 against Confluence in the district semifinals. The season ended but not before the No.6 seeded Owls took down No. 3 seed Gateway in the district quarterfinals.

Now, the Owls look forward to next season.

The underclassmen will need people to step up with the loss of ball handler and leading scorer Sam Haight. The senior led the Owls in points (14.4 per game) and assists (6 per game). Luckily, the Owls had several underclassmen gain varsity experience this season.  Freshmen Ethan Worley and Evan Worley will surely be in the mix next season, as well as sophomore Connor Hartmann. The void could also be filled with upcoming senior Jared Millheiser, who started as a freshman, but later had to recover from an ACL surgery.

One spot that does not need filling is the big man spot that was held down by junior Michael Schmidt, who led the St. Louis area in blocked shots with 109.

“I will hit the weights, work on my ball handling and become a better team player. It will be different to be the leader, but I am up to the challenge,” Michael Schmidt said.

Unfortunately, the Owls will have to replace this year’s senior leader, Sam Haight. Haight is among the all-time Windsor leaders in several statistical categories. Haight was a four year varsity starter and had 923 points, 256 steals, 371 assists and 363 rebounds.

“I would not have done anything differently. I had a lot of fun,” Haight said.
