Where is he from?

He is originally from Hillsboro.

Where did he go to college?

He attended Southeast Missouri State University.

How long has he been at Windsor?

This is his second year at Windsor.

What is his athletic background?

In high school, he played football and baseball in an organized fashion, but loved and did anything that would resemble a sport, i.e. wiffle ball, kick the can, hide-and-seek in the dark, stick wrestling, etc.

What is his favorite thing about coaching?

For him, coaching has always been a way to give back to a community that has done a lot for him. He learned a great deal from the experiences he had and the coaches who taught him, and he feels that it’s his responsibility to carry on that tradition–the tradition of helping to develop young men and women into productive and successful members of society.

What is his proudest moment as a coach/teacher?

Any moment that allows him to see the progress that a young athlete, whether it’s in the development of new skill sets, knowledge, or even character, is his proudest moment.

Who is in his family?

Woodland’s family is very close. One of the reasons that he wanted to come to Windsor was to work and coach with his older brother. His older brother is coach Keith Woodland and Alan says his older brother is a pretty good guy and a good role model. Keith and his wife also have two children, Alan’s niece and nephew, whom he loves very much.  

What is your favorite movie & food?

He says he just loves to eat, but probably a good barbequed pork steak or ice cream is his favorite; he has never said no to ice cream.  His favorite movie is Tommy Boy or Happy Gilmore.  He has seen both a thousand times and will watch them a thousand more.
