For the second consecutive season, the Windsor boys soccer team is hoping to make school history.

On Thursday, the Owls beat Hillsboro 2-1 to claim its second straight district championship.

Drenched with cold rain and plastered with sweat the boys lined up, and their faces beamed with pride. They were now the first team in Windsor’s boys varsity soccer history to win districts two years in a row.

Windsor will host Farmington at 6pm tonight. With a win, the Owls will advance to the quarterfinals.

Coach Chris Krueger explained how the boys reacted after Tanner Berry’s overtime goal.

“Ecstatic! They really enjoyed the moment even in the cold and rain. However, by the time we got off the bus, they were already thinking about their sectional opponent. That is incredible to see from a group of 15-18 year old boys to just turn the focus to the next game at hand,” Krueger said.

The Owls have a tough task to play against Farmington, who have only lost three games this season.

“We will concentrate on the same items we want to utilize in the game. Good touch, keeping control of the ball, getting quick shots off, playing at a unit from end-to-end.  We talked about how we want to defend and attack Farmington,” Krueger said.
