As all fall sports are beginning their seasons, the varsity volleyball team is hungry for a district championship. The last time they won a district title was in 2013.
Head coach Stephany Dueker said, “The goal is always to steadily improve in skills, confidence and chemistry throughout the season. On the court I’d like to challenge for conference and district titles and I hope for a 20 win season.”
Senior Taylor Duncan said, “Our team this year is the most connected and bonded team that I have been a part of at Windsor.”
As the hunt for a district title begins, the Owls begin their season at 7 pm tonight at Park Hills Central.
The Owls have three freshmen on the varsity this season–Grace Lowery, Madison Williams and Lexi Menne.
Coach Dueker said, “Although the freshmen are on varsity, they’ve already been playing at a very high level on their club team for years. So my hope is that this is just another season of good volleyball for them.”
Taylor Duncan said, “The freshman this season bring a lot to the table and are able to play at the level of speed that varsity teams play at.”
She recalls looking back at her freshman year playing alongside fellow classmate Ally Moore and trying to prove to everyone that they belong.
Taylor Duncan is returning to play after tearing her ACL last season.
Duncan said, “I am excited and very anxious to get back onto the court and play the game that I love. I can’t wait to be back in an actual home game with all of the girls and the crowd cheering us on from the stands.”
Both Taylor Duncan and Ally Moore are heading into their fourth season on the varsity this year and are hoping to finally capture a district title together.
Dueker said, “I expect Taylor and Ally to be leaders on and off the court regardless of how we are playing. As seniors, this should be their best season.”
