Hard Work Pays Off: Duo Brings Home A District Title

Carmen Peterson and Sklyer Rosvall won a Doubles District championship on Thursday.

What a difference a year makes.

Last year, senior Carmen Peterson missed all of tennis season because of a torn ACL.

Now, a year later, she is a district champion. Peterson and teammate Skyler Rosvall won the Class 1 District 3 Double Tournament at Windsor on Thursday.

Head coach Doc Carranza said, “We finally played to our capabilities and showed that working in the offseason really does pay off.”

On the individual side, senior Mia Steighorst took home a second place medal, which advances her to sectionals as well. The trio will compete at sectionals next Friday or Saturday.

The Owls coach was pleased with the results on Thursday.

Carranza said, “I told them that they had to be the last person to hit the ball in. Make them make the mistake.”
