Despite starting the season with a 6-2 record, the Windsor girls soccer team is expected to get even stronger as the season goes on.
“We are a young group, with only three seniors, so we will be learning and growing as the season progresses. I think by the end of the season, we will be very good and difficult to play against,” head coach Mike Hutchison said.
Follmer leads the team with eight goals on the young season.
Senior Madison Follmer said, “I think we are going to have a great season. Everyone has improved a lot since last year and I think we are going to have a winning record…My expectations for this year are to lead my team to as many victories as possible. I will make sure everyone is working hard at practice and not giving up during games. I expect everyone to have a positive attitude and hopefully we can go far in districts.”
After starting the season 5-0, the team has lost two of its past three games.
Senior Kate Tucker said, “I think that this year is looking good. We have a great group of girls who are really giving their all in practice, so that makes me hopeful for an amazing season.”
The expectations for this year are very high.
“I just want everyone to give 100 percent of their energy and for us as a team to work together to win as much as possible. I have no problem losing to a tough team as long as we put up a good fight and give it our all,” Tucker said.
There are a lot of good things going for this season.
Hutchinson said, “Our offense should be our strength. We return Maddy Follmer, Lillie Coleman as our main scorers. We also have a number of playmakers in Sara Wieberg, Elise Mayfield, Olivia Williford, Jordan Rosvall, and Ari Eslamian.”
