Last week was homecoming week. There were a lot of fun activities to do, one of them was the homecoming parade. Many students and staff walked in the parade. Most students were a part of a sport, others were on homecoming court, and other clubs.
Addison Davis and Cali Hammers were on homecoming court this year. Hammers were on the homecoming court for the seniors. Davis was on homecoming court for the sophomores.
“I felt nervous to have to be announced in front of the school but felt grateful for the teachers that voted for me,” Davis said.
All the people on the homecoming court were riding in cars for the homecoming parade.
“I am so glad I did not have to walk with everyone else,” Davis said.
Unfortunately, Hammers and Davis did not get to throw out candy to the kids.
“I wish we would have been able to throw out candy because that’s all the kids care about and it’s enjoyable to give them candy and watch their face light up. Either way, it was a great experience,” Hammers said.
Hammers plays softball. All the softball girls go to walk in the parade as well. Hammers sadly had to ride in a different car for being on homecoming court.
“At first it was pretty difficult to choose if I wanted to be on court or walk with the softball girls, especially with it being my last year. I gave it much thought but I knew the girls would be okay with it and Hoco court senior year is a one time experience, something I’ll remember forever and be forever grateful for,” Hammers said.
Amaya Shores walked in the parade with the sophomore float. It was a really hot and humid day and walking in the parade was really tough with the heat.
“It felt pretty hot out,” Shores said.
The parade went from Windsor Elementary all the way back up to the high school. The groups would all give out candy to the kids who watched. A lot of people ran out of candy before they went to high school. Even though some people ran out of candy some didn’t and had enough.
“Yeah we had enough candy when we reached middle and high school,” Shores said.
