The Windsor Owls have a new band director, and his name is Matt Bloch
The band students are happy with the replacement for Jacob Bubb, who left Windsor for Pattonville High School.
Junior Nikolas Caldwell said,” I think (Mr. Bloch) is a great teacher and I think he knows what he’s doing.”
Before teaching at Windsor, Bloch began his teaching career in Texas. However, he has St. Louis roots.
Bloch said, “I grew up in St. Peters, and got my bachelor’s degree from UMSL. I started teaching band in Waco, Texas at Tennyson Middle School and Waco High School. I am very happy to start teaching an excellent program at Windsor and to be back home in St. Louis.”
Bloch is pleased with his brief stint at Windsor thus far.
Bloch said, “I am continually blown away by how hard Windsor students work, not only in band but in all areas of study. Windsor students I have seen are all very competitive and goal-oriented people, and I am privileged to get to work with them every day.”
Senior Scott Moravec is the drum major this year.
Moravec said, “Everyone knows what we are working towards, we have an end goal. We are also very productive and we get a lot done.”
While Bloch is happy with the overall performance of the band, he was especially pleased with one group.
Bloch said, “I want to give a shout-out to our percussion section who put in extra work this summer as they picked up marching drums again and had an early competition at Timberland High School on August 24th. They performed very well.”
