As spring approaches, Windsor Owls athletes are gearing up for an exciting season across multiple sports. With returning talent and high expectations, each team looks to make a strong push this spring.
Boys and Girls Track
Head coaches Jeff Stoffey and Stephany Dueker-Richmond and the Windsor track team will open their season on March 28 at Potosi. Their first home meet in seven years is scheduled for May 6. The home meet is made possible by the school’s newly built throwers pit and javelin runway.
The Owls are led by returning state qualifiers, including Layton Hollis, who earned an eighth-place medal in the long jump last season. The girls’ 4×200 relay team—Keira Dixon, Ty Schenck, Shea Mancuso, and Natalie Krause—also returns, aiming to build on last year’s success.
“We are hoping for more qualifiers this season,” Stoffey said. “Boys such as Kevin Holman and Will Kalisch, along with Layton, should help lead us to a successful season. Meanwhile, the girls should be loaded in the sprint relays.”
Baseball
The Windsor baseball team, led by head coach Randy Green, will get its first taste of competition at the home Jamboree on March 17. The regular season opens on the road at St. Charles West on March 21, with the first home game set for March 28 against Clayton at 4:15 p.m. The Owls finished 9-16 last spring.
The Owls return a strong group of experienced seniors, including Nate Estopare, Cole Scott, Keegan Murphy, and Adam Streicher, all of whom will play key roles both in the field and on the mound. Senior Jeremiah Palmer returns for his second varsity season and will handle the majority of catching duties. Junior Landon Palmer will enter his second season on the varsity and compete for innings in both the infield and outfield. Juniors Connor Bellanger and Ethan Shirk are back for their second varsity seasons. Bellanger will compete for time in the infield, while Shirk will compete for outfield innings.
“This solid group of seniors, along with a few underclassmen stepping up, should be enough to lead the Owls to another winning season,” Green said.
Girls Soccer
Windsor girls soccer, led by head coach Mike Hutchison, will kick off the season in the Fox Tournament against St. Pius. Their first home game is scheduled for April 2 against Fredericktown. The Owls finished 17-4 last season.
The Owls return eight starters from last season, including captains Lindsey Garland, Elise Mayfield, Sara Wieberg, and Lillie Coleman. Other key players coach Hutchison is expecting big seasons out of include senior Olivia Williford, juniors Sydney Streckfuss, Gracie Beckemeier, Brooklyn Johnson, Jordan Rosvall, Ari Eslamian, and sophomore Paige Lorella.
With loads of experience on the roster, the girls soccer team looks ready for a competitive season.
Golf
Windsor golf, under the guidance of Dennis Pagel, will open its season on March 24 at Ste. Genevieve Golf Course against Ste. Genevieve in match play.
The Owls will be led by junior Ryan Hogan, who was an All-Conference golfer as a freshman before missing last season. Juniors Nick Perkins and Oliver Witte bring additional experience, both coming off a strong sophomore season.
“Anytime you get out on the golf course and watch these young golfers play is exciting,” Pagel said. “We are excited for the season to see how we do in competition.”
