The Windsor Owls volleyball team continued their impressive season with a hard-fought championship win at the Alton Tournament this past weekend. The team finished first overall, showcasing both talent and teamwork throughout the event.
Junior Libby Cobb, senior Lacey Myers, and senior Jordan Rosvall were named to the All-Tournament Team for their standout performances.
“The best thing about our team is that everyone brings something unique, and we have great team chemistry,” said head coach Shannon Richeson. “With these qualities, we are able to tackle any challenge and have each other’s backs.”
Senior captain Lacey Myers set the tone early in the tournament with sharp serving and quick defensive reads, contributing three kills. Outside hitter Shealee Mancuso added speed and agility on the court, while middle blocker Tessa Whitney was a dominant presence at the net.
“Our energy was there the whole night,” said junior Lexi Happel. “Everyone’s friendships and bonds are getting stronger, both on and off the court.”
Defense was key to the Owls’ success. Libero Libby Cobb dug up nearly every hard-hit ball that came her way, keeping the team in crucial rallies.
“Freshman Chloe Williams is the most well-rounded player on the team,” said senior Bella Neal. “She can handle every aspect of the game and plays her defensive role really well. Chloe is also a powerful outside hitter.”
The Owls swept all five of their matches 2-0, defeating Hazelwood East, Alton, Collinsville, Veritas Christian (O’Fallon, MO), and St. Louis Notre Dame.
“We’re focused on building a competitive team that plays with intensity, discipline, and heart every time we step on the court,” said Coach Richeson. “Our goals are to improve every day, compete at a high level, and continue the Windsor Volleyball culture—where players support each other, grow as athletes and individuals, and represent our program with pride.”
The Owls have more opportunities to shine this week as they face a tough lineup of upcoming matches.
“This past weekend’s tournament was a big confidence booster,” said junior Libby Cobb. “It showed us that no matter what challenge we face, we can work together as a team and come out with a win. We’re ready to take on even stronger competition.”
