As September comes to a close, one of the most anticipated events of the year is just around the corner—Homecoming. It’s the night where students get to dress up, dance, and make memories with their friends, and for many underclassmen, it’s their first chance to experience the excitement.
Leading up to the dance is Spirit Week, a fun tradition that gives students the chance to dress up and show their school pride. Many students are already buzzing with excitement, not just about the dance itself, but about the energy and unity that come with the week’s themed days.
One question seems to be on everyone’s mind: What’s the official color for this year’s Homecoming? After asking around, blue emerged as the most popular choice among students and staff, with black coming in second. Whether that will reflect in decorations or outfits remains to be seen—but students are clearly eager to coordinate and represent.
Freshmen like Addison Kerley and Sam McMillian are especially excited to attend their first Homecoming.
“I’m very excited,” said McMillian. “I’m hoping it’s as good as everyone’s been making it seem.”
He also mentioned looking forward to Spirit Week, saying he’s ready to participate as much as he can and start creating those high school memories.
Meanwhile, seniors are approaching their final Homecoming with a mix of excitement and nostalgia. For them, this dance marks the beginning of their last year of high school traditions.
Kenzie Kurley, a senior, shared her thoughts:
“I’m excited because it’s my last Hoco. Senior Hoco—you gotta try and make the most of it.”
Kurley plans to go all out for Spirit Week, hoping others will do the same.
“Yes, I’m ready to participate to the fullest because it’s my last year here, and I’m trying to have as much fun as possible. I’m hoping to see a lot of people participate and make it the best for everyone.”
