Where is he from?

Malec is from Chicago, Illinois.  

Where did he go to college?

He attended college at SIUC in Illinois.  

How long has he been at Windsor?

Malec has taught at Windsor for eight years.  

What is his athletic background?

Malec has an athletic background in volleyball and soccer.  In college, he helped with the SIUC basketball team.  

What is his favorite thing about coaching?

Malec loves the competition that comes out with athletics and seeing it bring out the best in people.  He also enjoys seeing kids progress as people.

What is his proudest moment as a coach/teacher?

One of his proudest moments came in his classroom last year.  Malec’s fourth hour class was really enjoyable–they operated well together, showed each other great respect and it was an outstanding class of people.  Athletically, he had a moment a few years ago when it was the team’s last practice. When he went to end practice, the kids still wanted to work and did not want it to be over.  

Who is he close with in his family?

Malec has one younger sister that is about to graduate with a degree in education; she lives in Chicago with his mom and stepdad.  He is also very close to his Uncle Jeff and Aunt Debbie who are close family friends; Jeff is like a father to Malec.

What is his favorite movie & food?

His favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption and his favorite food is good pizza.
