Alex DeMatteis

Where is he from?

DeMatteis was born an army brat in Germany and then lived in Italy during his early childhood.  When he was five years old, his family landed in St. Louis and he has never left. He is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.

Where did he go to college?

DeMatteis attended Lindenwood, UMSL and Harris Stowe College.  

How long has he been at Windsor?

This is his first year at Windsor. He previously spent one year at Grandview and 15 years at St. Mary’s High School.  

What is his athletic background?

In high school, he played football and basketball. After high school, he attended Lindenwood to play football.  

What is his favorite thing about coaching?

DeMatteis enjoys reconnecting with former players after they graduate and seeing what they have done with their life and hearing how football helped them.  

What is his proudest moment as a coach/teacher?

He enjoys watching former players play in college; he makes it a point to watch any former player he has had play at least once in college. He enjoys their success and knowing he helped them and had a hand in each former players success.

Does he have a family?

DeMatteis is married to his wife, Jen. They have three kids–4-year-old old Xander and 8 month old twins, Augie and Livi.  

What is his favorite movie & food?

His favorite movie is Braveheart and his favorite food is anything Italian.
