Erik Brandsoy

Where is he from?

Brandsoy grew up in Festus and now lives in Crystal City.  

Where did he go to college?

He went to Jefferson College and then Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO).

How long has he been at Windsor?

This is his fifth year as a teacher and sixth year altogether at Windsor.

What is his athletic background?

He has played sports all his life–football, track, baseball, basketball, soccer, etc…

In high school, he was a three year starter on the varsity football team at Festus, playing offensive and defensive line. He was also a four year varsity track athlete, making it to state his senior year throwing the shot put. Nowadays, he just lifts weights, plays slow pitch softball and sand volleyball.

What is his favorite thing about coaching?

His favorite thing about coaching is getting to share his passion for football and competition with kids. He hopes that, by coaching, he is able to teach kids not only about the sport and competition, but also about being a person of good character.

What is his proudest moment as a coach/teacher?

Brandsoy’s proudest moment came from being a teacher. He ran into a student some years after he had him in fifth grade. He was talking to him about how he was doing since he did not do too well when Brandsoy taught him. He had a lot of trouble in class, doing work, and making poor choices. They were talking and he said he was doing great now, and told him that it was because of Brandsoy.

Who is in his family?

Brandsoy has been married to his high school sweetheart, Kristi, for almost 8 years now. They have three boys. They are 7-year-old Joshua, 5-year-old Jacob, and 2-year-old Matthew.

What is his favorite movie & food?

His favorite all time movie is probably Dumb and Dumber or Gangs of New York, and chicken wings are his favorite food.
