For the second consecutive year, the Windsor student council wanted to recognize a teacher for having a positive impact at the school. Last year, math teacher Kelly Stockwell was recognized in the “Dude. Be Nice” initiative.

On Friday, Windsor High School students lined the halls to cheer on science teacher John Darmody as he headed to his fifth hour class. Students from the student council, Teen Cert, Gateway to Change, Science Club and freshmen class officers helped organize the celebration. Darmody was greeted with donuts, new hiking boots and thank you notes from students and teachers. Darmody is widely regarded as one of the most passionate teachers at Windsor High School.

Darmody was thrilled, as well as shocked, to be recognized this year.

Darmody said, “My first thoughts were ‘Wow’ and I’m extremely humbled that my students think that highly of me.”
