The Owls season ended after a 2-1 loss against Hillsboro.

Last week, the Windsor boy’s soccer team advanced to the district championship against Hillsboro after beating Festus 2-1 on October 25.  Windsor beat Hillsboro 1-0 earlier in the year, so they were confident going into the game.

Windsor started off strong with a goal from Michael Eby to take the lead 1-0. Windsor gave Hillsboro a penalty kick, which they capitalized on to tie the game 1-1.  Later in the game, Windsor gave up another penalty kick, which Shawn Casey originally blocked. However, the Hawks got the rebound and sank it into the net. Unfortunately, the Owls could not find the net again, losing the district championship 2-1.

Coach Van Dyke said, “We came out gunning with Michael’s goal early in the first half. The coaches and I were thinking at that point it would be a 3-0 or 4-0 win. We let up a penalty in the box to tie it up 1-1. We were still confident going into the second half tied at one. (In the) second half we let up another penalty which Shawn saved and they scored off of. We had plenty of chances to score, but we didn’t capitalize off of them. We were the better team and we didn’t win.”
