With a full year of preparation, the Windsor Golden Line is ready to defend their state title.

Last season, the Golden Line won a state title in the category of hip hop and is hoping to trade out a third place lyrical finish for a first. The team will be competing on Saturday, February 23, at Family Arena in St. Charles. It is an all day event that will determine the team’s fate this season.

“We practiced really hard as a team. I think we’ll do well,” Madeline Brothers said.

Confidence is going to be crucial to their performances. It affects facial expressions, timing, how sharp the moves are, and how well the team works together. However, confidence isn’t the only reason Windsor expects to do well. The extensive practices these ladies regularly attend is what sets apart the people who come for fun, and the people who come to win.

“We practice two-three hours a day, four-five days a week [during the school year], and four hours a day, five days a week over summer,” Grace Mueller said.

The team should be more than prepared.

The Windsor Golden Line has already gotten a taste of competition in 2019 at the UDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. The girls placed 19th in the entire nation for their game day performance.

“Disney World was so fun! Especially during the Varsity after hours night because we just got to spend time with dance teams across the nation,” Mueller said.

The Windsor Golden Line continuously proves themselves as not only a top team in the state, but also in the country.

“I think we got this. We worked really hard–now we just have to do it again,” Brothers said.
