For the month of April, junior Olivia Miloscia is The Hoot Athlete of the Month. Miloscia is currently running varsity track in the spring, but she also participated in varsity basketball in the winter. For the track team, she has the fastest 100m, 200m, and 400m on the girl’s team this season.  Last season, Miloscia was on the state qualifying 4×200 relay team.

However, Miloscia’s favorite event to run in track is the 4×400, which is the last running event at track meets.

Milsocia said, “It is a challenging race that is full of energy and excitement. You have your teammates running it with you which makes it better and motivated you to be better. It is a difficult race, something you have to fight for, but is the most rewarding once you finish.

Stephany Dueker, the head track coach, has high expectations for Miloscia this spring.

Dueker said, “I expect Olivia to continue to work hard and improve as she has recently.  I think the sky is the limit as to what she could achieve this season if her work ethic stays strong and she stays healthy.”

Miloscia has her eyes on breaking the one minute time in the 400, her current personal record is one minute flat, and she believes she can do better.

Miloscia said, “My goal this season is to become stronger and faster through hard work and determination. I would like to break a minute in the 400, so staying motivated, working hard, and keeping a good attitude is key.”
