Over the past couple of decades, the Windsor C-1 School District has gone through a number of changes. School renovations seem to happen very often, but for Windsor’s FACS room, they don’t. In fact, very little changed over the past 30 years. This year, that all changed.
“The entire room was demolished,” said FACS teacher Casey Willenbrock. “Everything from the floors to the ceiling tiles and everything in between.”
The new strength room and band room aren’t the only construction projects taking place at the high school.
For the FACS room, taking the entire room apart meant that all of the kitchen appliances had to be replaced.
“I have new pantry space, an amazing reach-in fridge and freezer, all new stoves, and even a demo kitchen,” said Willenbrock. “The demo kitchen is pretty awesome, and once the pantry is done, it’s going to be amazing.”
Freshman Madison Smith is someone who takes their cooking very seriously and is excited to be able to use the equipment. Smith claims her favorite appliance is the “oven… because I can cook a lot of food, such as pizza, in it.”
Stuff like this takes a lot of time and effort to get the perfect aesthetic most people want; however for Windsor, it only took a matter of months to meet that standard.
“I am most excited about the overall aesthetic of the space…the look of all the new appliances and materials gives students a feeling of excitement and motivation, like they want to cook and even clean because the space is so fresh and so new,” said Willenbrock.
