As the 2026 regular season winds down, the Windsor boys track and field team has limited meets remaining and is aiming to make a strong postseason run toward state.
“The boys have exceeded my expectations so far,” coach Jeff Stoffey said.
In the field events, senior Xavier Bunton and junior Tim Cossey are leading the way, putting themselves in position to qualify for state. Bunton has already surpassed 43 feet in the triple jump this season, moving closer to the school record set by 2025 graduate Layton Hollis. Cossey has also performed well in both the triple jump and high jump, contributing valuable points to the team’s success.
Windsor’s throwers have also delivered strong performances. Senior Charlie Gabriel in the shot put and junior Brandon Mahone in the discus have each shown the potential to make a push toward state if they continue to improve.
On the track, Windsor’s relay teams have been another highlight. The 4×800 relay team of Tim Holt, Gus Haegele, Caleb Haegele and Brandon Rapp, along with the 4×400 team of Gus Haegele, Caleb Haegele, Tim Holt and Tim Cossey, have continued to improve and position themselves as contenders for a postseason run.
With districts and sectionals approaching, the team remains focused on refining details in practice and maintaining a high level of concentration to secure state-qualifying spots.
“We are hoping to advance the majority of our lineup through districts and on to sectionals,” Stoffey said. “Sectionals will be extremely difficult.”
With consistent performances across events, Windsor has a strong chance to send multiple athletes to state this season and compete for top finishes.
“If we keep improving and competing the right way, we have a chance to do something special at the end of the season,” Stoffey said.
